Fire Alarm Design Engineer
Location: Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Design Engineer to join a growing fire and life safety team. This position will be responsible for designing fire alarm systems, preparing detailed drawings, ensuring code compliance, and supporting projects from design through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design fire alarm systems for commercial and industrial applications
- Prepare detailed fire alarm drawings, plans, and documentation
- Review project specifications and interpret applicable codes and standards
- Coordinate designs with project managers, engineers, contractors, and customers
- Perform system calculations and equipment selections
- Review plans for accuracy, constructability, and code compliance
- Assist with submittals, revisions, and project documentation
- Support field teams during installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning
- Ensure designs meet NFPA, local, and state requirements
Qualifications
- Experience designing fire alarm systems
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire/life safety codes
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of fire alarm equipment, devices, and system architecture
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- NICET certification is a plus
- Ohio fire alarm design experience or licensing is a plus
